| A LITTLE ABOUT THE DJ Mark (DJ Mar-K) has been involved in the entertainment industry for over 25 years. As early as 1972 when he would attend school dances, he always wanted to be the one "on stage". The Square Dance Days After several unsuccessful attempts to start a band from scratch, he was introduced to Modern Western Style Square Dancing and in 1979, he saw the opportunity to be the entertainer, the one "on stage" as a Square Dance Caller. As a Caller for various Square Dance Clubs in the area he found that this was a very productive time as he grew used to what it takes to be "on stage" in front of others. In 1996, Mark transitioned his Calling from Square Dance Clubs to Private Parties, school socials, church groups, and more... and specialized in the Introductory Party type square dance events for the non Square Dancer. At this time many organizations wanted to also have regular open dancing after the Square Dance segment of their event. The idea of DJing events was officially born. Introducing DJ Mar-K Over time this eventually led to various additional gigs, as playing background music at different events and as an occasional DJ now and then. Also included in all this were many dance events that Mark himself organized. He also helped as part of the primary organization team of many other dance events from small dances to dance weekends, and dance festivals. In 2006, Mark decided to put all his vast experiences together and make it official, and go all out with a quality service called Rock'N DeeJay Productions. The "Dance" Years In 1992, Mark got involved with structured social dancing during the big rise in Country Western Line & Couples dancing. From 1992 to 1994 line dancing was his thing but in 1994 couples dancing seemed to be more popular then ever and he started taking lessons. Having taken lessons in couples dancing from the many Country Western establishments at the time, and followed by private lessons, Mark has acquired a very good understanding of social dancing and the music behind the various dance styles. In Summary In addition to Square Dancing Mark teaches Introductory Couples dancing for those groups that wish to include this during their events. |
